Planet name generator
Planet names for a science fiction game, with a star system, a world type and a one-line hook that gives your crew something to walk into.

How the names are made
Planet names are made from short syllables with a soft sound (Aelona, Velara) or a harsh one (Kravus, Zorix). The star system is its own name with Reach, Cluster or System after it, and the world number as a roman numeral, so Kravus might be world III of the Tarnar Cluster.
The hook is two sentences: one that describes the world type (a drowned ocean world, a frozen one, a jungle) and one that gives a problem, such as a lost homeworld contact or a rival pair of governors. Together they are enough to run a first scene. The generator works with any science fiction game.
Using the results
- Treat the second sentence of the hook as the adventure seed. Ask what the crew is carrying that makes it worse.
- Roll a whole system by locking the system and generating planets. World numbers will differ, so you can sort them by orbit.
- Match the world type to the crew's trouble. A desert world suits a water run, an ice world a rescue.
- Set the sound to harsh for frontier mining worlds and soft for old, settled ones.
Questions
Are the planets from a known franchise?
No. A test blocks well-known planet names from films, books and games.
Does the world type have game stats?
No. It only picks the description sentence. Use your own system for gravity, atmosphere and temperature.
Can I get just a name?
Untick the system and the hook to get the planet name alone.
How do I say the names?
Each result has a suggested pronunciation. Invented names have no official one, so it is a suggestion.
