Truth or dare?

Pick truth, dare or random

Anyone can pass. No repeats until a list runs out.

Take turns by name (optional)

Add two or more names and the page will say whose turn it is, moving on after each truth or dare. Names stay in this browser.

    Nothing is sent anywhere.

    How the three levels differ

    • Kids: Ages about 6 to 11. Silly, gentle, done in the same room. For example: "If you had a superpower, what would it be?"
    • Teens: Ages about 12 and up. A bit more personal, still nothing private or embarrassing. For example: "What is the strangest question you have ever asked a teacher?"
    • Grown-ups (clean): For adults who want something other than the spicy versions: work, habits, opinions, memories. For example: "What is a skill you wish you had learned earlier?"

    The page opens on Kids. Switch levels at any time; the ones already shown stay out of the draw until each list has been used.

    What we leave out, on every level

    Most truth or dare lists that rank in search lean toward "spicy" and adult prompts. Ours do not, so a parent, teacher or host can hand over the phone without reading every card first. On every level there is:

    • nothing romantic or sexual, and no questions about crushes or exes;
    • nothing about alcohol, smoking, vaping or drugs;
    • no dares that need anyone outside the room, a trip outdoors, someone else's phone, or sending and posting anything;
    • no eating anything gross, nothing risky, no stunts on hard floors;
    • nothing about anyone's body or looks, and nothing meant to embarrass.

    If you spot a prompt that breaks these rules for your group, skip it and tap again.

    How to play

    Sit in a circle. On your turn, choose truth (answer a question honestly) or dare (do a small challenge). Tap the matching button, or Random to let the page choose, and read the prompt out. Then the next player goes. There is no winner; the game ends when people would rather do something else.

    Agree on two rules before you start: anyone can pass, and what is said in the game is not repeated outside it. For larger groups, add names under "Take turns by name" so nobody gets skipped and nobody gets picked on.

    Questions people ask about truth or dare

    What are some good truth or dare questions for kids?

    Questions about favorites, made-up worlds and funny moments work best, because there is no wrong answer: "What is your favorite food, and what is a food you will never eat?" "If you could be any animal for a day, which one would you pick?" "What is the silliest thing you have ever been scared of?" The Kids level on this page is all like that, and it is the level the page starts on.

    What are 10 dares that are safe indoors?

    Hop on one foot until your next turn comes around, or for 30 seconds. Talk like a robot until your next turn. Do your best chicken dance for 10 seconds. Pretend to be a cat until someone laughs. Say the alphabet backward as far as you can. Do 15 squats while saying the alphabet. Hold a plank for 30 seconds. Hold a wall sit for 30 seconds. Do 10 jumping jacks. Tell a joke in a pirate voice.

    Are there spicy or dirty questions?

    No. Every level here stays clean, including Grown-ups, which asks about work, habits, money and memories instead. Many other lists online mix in adult and alcohol dares; we wrote ours so a family, a classroom or a work party can play without checking each card first.

    What if someone does not want to answer?

    They pass, no questions asked. Some groups give each player two passes per game, or let a player who passes on a truth take a dare instead. A game where people feel pushed stops being fun quickly.

    Do the questions repeat?

    Not until every truth or every dare in the level you picked has come up. The page remembers what it has shown until you close the tab.
