Game options
How to play on this page
- Tap to play: tap any face-up card that nothing overlaps. If it is one rank from the waste card, it goes there at once.
- Hidden cards turn up by themselves when both cards on top of them are gone.
- Stock: tap it when nothing plays. The badge shows how many of the 23 are left.
- Undo is unlimited. When two cards could continue a run, play one, look, and undo if the other path was longer.
- Keyboard: arrow keys move between cards, Enter plays, Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y undo and redo.
The rules this game follows
- 18 cards face down as three peaks, 10 face up along the bottom, one card starting the waste, 23 in the stock.
- Play a free card if it is one rank above or below the waste card, any suit. King and Ace connect unless you switch wrapping off.
- One pass through the stock. Clear all 28 table cards to win, even with stock left over.
Our TriPeaks rules page covers dealing a real deck, where the game came from, the odds and four tips.
Run scoring
The score under the table follows the run scoring our rules page describes: a run of n cards scores 1 + 2 + ... + n.
| Run length | 1 | 2 | 3 | 5 | 10 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Points for the run | 1 | 3 | 6 | 15 | 55 |
So one long run is worth far more than the same cards in short bursts, and the choice at each fork matters twice: for clearing the table and for the score. The longest run of the deal is shown next to the score.
TriPeaks questions
Does a King connect to an Ace?
Yes by default, as in most apps today: Queen, King, Ace and 2 run together. Turn wrapping off under Game options to stop at the King in both directions.
How does the score work?
Each card you play is worth one more point than the one before it in the same run: 1, then 2, then 3. Turning a stock card ends the run and the next card is worth 1 again. A ten-card run scores 55.
Can I go through the stock twice?
No. TriPeaks has one pass through its 23 stock cards. When they are gone and nothing plays, the deal is over.
Why is the card I want not lighting up?
It is still covered. A peak card is free only when both cards overlapping it from the row below are gone; then it turns face up by itself.
