Trivia night score sheet and scorer

Set up your rounds once and you get two things: printable answer sheets for every team and a host score sheet, and an on-screen scorer that adds up each round, handles bonus rounds, jokers and a final wager, and settles ties with a closest-guess question. Built for pub quizzes, school fundraisers and family trivia at the kitchen table.

How to host a trivia night

    1. Teams of two to six. Bigger teams talk over each other; smaller ones lose heart. Ask teams to pick a name before the first round, because the name is half the fun.
    2. Five or six rounds of ten questions. That fills about two hours with marking and a break. A picture round or a music round in the middle changes the pace.
    3. Hand out sheets per round. Collect each team's sheet at the end of the round, read the answers while someone marks, and announce the standings. Swapping sheets with the next table for marking is faster and keeps everyone honest.
    4. Save the drama for the end. A double-points round or a wager on the final question keeps teams in the hunt until the last answer. Have a number question ready for a tie.
    5. Check your answers. Most arguments at trivia night come from a question with two fair answers. Questions about dates, places and numbers with one checkable answer cause the fewest.

Need questions? Our trivia questions with answers run as a quiz by topic and level and print as a question sheet with a matching answer key; every answer has its source beside it.

Need questions for a holiday quiz? Our Christmas trivia questions come with an answer key, and each answer is checked against a named source, so the host can settle a dispute on the spot.

    What this page adds

The usual trivia night score sheet is a fixed PDF: a set number of rounds and teams, and a pencil for the adding up. Here the answer sheets and the host sheet are made from your own rounds (any mix of question counts and points), the totals add themselves, double rounds, jokers and the wager round follow written rules, and ties are settled by the closest guess with the margin shown. Everything stays in your browser.

    Trivia night scoring questions

How do you keep score at a trivia night?

Each team writes its answers on one sheet per round and hands it in. The host (or a neighbor team) marks it, and the number of right answers goes on the host score sheet. Read the standings out after every round or two so teams know where they stand before the last round.

How does a wager round work in trivia?

Before hearing the final question, each team writes down how many points it will bet, up to its current score (or a fixed limit the host sets). A right answer adds the bet; a wrong one takes it away, or scores nothing if you play it gently. It lets a team in third place still win.

What is a joker round in a pub quiz?

Before a round starts, each team can play its one joker on it, and its score for that round counts double. Teams play it on their best subject. Here a joker can go on any normal round but not on a round that is already double or the wager round.

How do you break a tie at trivia night?

Ask one question with a number for an answer that nobody will know exactly, such as the year something happened or how many of something there are. Each tied team writes a guess; the closest guess wins. If two guesses are equally close, ask another.
